First Visit to the Pumpkin Patch

Those that remember my blog last year might recall how much we Nealon's love the pumpkin patch. They are all over Petaluma and today we stopped at our first one. Abobe Farms is located off of Old Adobe road. The farm is fun because they have ponies, sheep, a haunted house, hay rides, and cotton candy to name a few things. Needless to say, it was a little windy out there (hence the wind blown hair...no excuse for the green outfit yet), but we had a lot of fun.

Visiting Auntie Tammy

A few weeks ago, my sister, Tammy, welcomed a new addition to her family. Her name is Emma, a cute little puppy. Gaby loved the pics of Emma and wanted to "tickle her belly." We went to go visit the puppy, but Gaby clammed up and got very shy and a little frightened by the puppy. Tammy led us to the park to play and we had a great visit.

Date at the range

Rob knows how to woo me. Sunday we had lunch and then headed over to the shooting range. As you can see from my poster, it looks like I am getting better, but can't seem to get the head target that well yet.  These posters are great because everytime I hit the target, IT TURNS BRIGHT YELLOW! Now the shooting range is not a typical date, but imagine this. The place was packed. There were a lot of women there taking lessons or there to just practice with a pal. I wonder how many were there with their own personal tutor. I've got a long way to go, but I'm not as nervous about holding the gun like I was.

I'm helping, Mommy!

It all began this morning about 8:00 a.m. I was in my office checking my e-mail as I normally do and Gaby woke up to tell me "Happy Birthday." I let her know it was not my birthday anymore, but she insisted it was and left the room. Then, it was quiet. When Gaby is quiet, we should be concerned. So I call, "Gaby, where are you?" and find her in the kitchen, bend over the freezer box below, using her fingernails to scrape chocolate off the leftover ice cream cake. Chocolate on her face, on the wall, on her clothes, all over the freezer. Her response, "chocolate good!" Later on in the day, I took my two cherubs to school to prepare for next week. Before leaving, I asked Gaby to clean up while I put Natalia in her chair. That split second with my back to her was too much time to have my eye off of her. She pulls a chair to my shelf, grabs my stamp pad and stamps, and proceeds to stamp her face. Her response, " Gaby stamp her nose right there." But it is not over. Poor Natalia has been suffering from a rash. It appears she has the diarrhea Gaby suffered from last week. She has watched us cover Natalia's little behind in cream so, as captured in the pics I took, Gaby took it upon herself to help out her baby sister. I heard them hysterically laughing in the bedroom. Rob thought I was watching them and I thought he was watching them. Well, none of us were during those few minutes while Gaby proceeded to cover Natalia in butt paste. Gaby, of course, was only helping.

Rob's iphone pics

This handy tool really comes in handy when you want to capture that special pic. Having Gaby smile in a picture is a rarity.

More breakthroughs with the potty...

My children just won't go to sleep tonight. Is there a full moon or something? Anyway, Gaby has made more breakthroughs with the potty. She asked to go, began reading a book, and went number #2 this time. I'll spare you the pic, but it will go in the baby book. It's not the actual deed, just her reading the book on the potty....it is actually kind of funny.
This will be a particularly tough week as I have meetings, Back to School Night, meetings, and training. Picture day is on Thursday so hopefully I won't produce bags under my eyes. I think I will ask Rob to take a picture of me on Friday passed out on the couch. It is only Monday and I am exhausted. Apparently Gaby is not because she is crying for me to get her from her room and go to mommy's bed instead. Calgon, take me away!

Happy Birthday, dear mama!

Gaby was in denial for a few days after learning it was going to be my birthday. In protest, she was saying," No mama happy birthday. Gaby Happy Birthday." This afternoon, I guess daddy practiced with her and as I walked in after work, she said, "Mama, happy birthday." Anyway, yes. I have reached 34 and next year will have the honor of filling in the next bubble of 35-40 years of age on a questionnaire. Rob brought roses and a balloon to work for me and I brought in cupcakes to share with my 17 students. After class, I went to a training and then came home. My mother reminded me that maybe I should take my birthday off and go do something like create a spa day or something. Maybe next year that will be the plan.

Standing up

Natalia is really testing her leg strength now. Everywhere and anywhere she can, she pulls herself up to standing.  Here she is after a nap. Don't you love the crazy hair.

Gaby is sick with a little upset stomach. We kept her home from school today and I came home from lunch with some chicken soup, saltines, and white rice. She seems to be recovering nicely since she is trying to open the funfetti frosting for the cupcakes I am making for my students tomorrow. It is my birthday and I am turning a ripe 34! Shouldn't they be making cupcakes for me. Maybe not. I've already been graciously given their colds and a lovely right "pink eye" to match the left one from last week.

Natalia in Family Baptism Dress

I planned the baptism just a tad bit too late for Natalia to wear the family dress. We had a heck of a time putting her hands through the tiny arm holes; however, the rest fit great. This is not the dress she'll be wearing for her baptism as grandma purchased one that should fit her great in October. I just really wanted to get some shots in the dress before she really outgrew the grown and had more to worry about than tiny arm holes.
My sister,Tammy, and her husband, Dave, will be Godparents for Natalia's baptism in October.
